Attorneys have finished selecting a jury for the molestation trial of 21-year-old Jatten Heinen. Opening arguments are scheduled to begin Thursday at 9 a.m.
The jury selection process took nearly two full days. Several potential jurors began clapping as the 33rd juror went in for individual questioning with the attorneys. Once that juror moved on to the next phase, attorneys then whittled the panel of 33 down to 13 jurors, with one alternate.
Prosecutor Leah Viste read the five charges against Heinen to the jury and told them that he had pleaded not guilty to them. Potential jurors were the type of accusation Heinen was facing, but the specific details were not known until the charges were read.
A female juror seated in the back row appeared upset as the charges were read. She crossed her arms and seemed to be avoiding looking at Heinen, who was dressed in a white dress shirt and seated with his two attorneys.
When there is more than one child testifying, you can bet that there is truth to this. I don’t know why he has a couple of dozen people supporting them. Apparently they live with blinders on and don’t have any children of their own.
I am sick to death of pedophiles getting by with harming our children because someone doesn’t want to see the truth. They just get worse and turn into Joseph Duncans.
I believe all pedophiles should have their own special prison in one part of the country. All should serve life sentences because they will never change. In this prison, we need to bring back the work house. I certainly don’t want to be supporting them. Call it done, no one gets upset about the death penalty and any extra money they earn goes to support the children they have harmed.
Your comments are horrible. Do you know the whole story or just what the media puts out there? Everyone deserves support. Everyone has family, and his family is one who knows him, knows his morals, knows his values, knows everything about him. I think it’s great that he has family support no matter the situation, and they are coming fourth with a strong voice, doesn’t that make you wonder? And the family has many many many kids around so you know.
What every happened to innocent until proven guilty? Maybe you should sit back on your comments. And to call him Joseph Duncan , How Dare You . I would never support someone, or not support someone unless I know the story.

Give me a break Katie. Do you think these girls just got together to try to ruin this guys life? They are small children…babies really….and do not have that mindset at that age. If you are going to defend this monster and stand by him….please watch your children very closely while you are doing it.
This wonderful young man has watched over my 2 oldest daughters many times over the last 8-9 years. The allegations are false. My family along with Mr Heinens, have watched countless times how the media, mostly the “forum” has not given out all the facts in the case, or worse yet the prosecution has not given out all the details so they can build guilt in the public eye. Anyone, including myself could be made out to look guilty with a poorly run, overly aggressive prosecution. Once all the facts are out and the case is dismissed, my hope is that some sort of retribution comes back to the wrongly accused.
Molly, please…remember that we have a judicial system that clearly says, “innocent till proven guilty”. Let the process go forward before you judge.
John, I am going to beg you. Whether you believe in him or not, please, please, please do not let him babysit your children anymore. Their safety is your first priority and you are responsible to protect them from harm.

It’s interesting, if you have kids yourself, you know how you can talk around them and they will pick up what you are saying. They will run with what they have in their minds, as they are kids and love to play with their imagination. That’s great..when its something possitive. I feel bad for you to label someone and you don’t know the whole story. No matter the outcome, peoples lives have been altered. And I’m sorry that it’s Jatten’s, but he has an amazing family who backs him 100%. Nothing is going to outlast that family.

I think you should remember that these are children.. they dont know exactly what being touched in a wrong way is. they couldnt have just come up with an idea like this just ourt of no where. Not only that, but if they were touched in a way that made them uncomfortable, then it was wrong. end of story.
